GloFAS variable river discharge (dis) is stored as average over the time step of the model (24-hourly), with time stamp (date and time of end of averaging period) explicit in the GRIB short name. Soil wetness index (root zone) represents the volume of water stored in the soil layers given as an instantaneous value at the end of each model time step. Soil Depth is a static file that gives a set of three values – depth from the surface to the bottom of each layer. Soil depth is a positive value downward for each of the three soil layers at each grid point. The value is relative from the top of the land surface to the bottom of each layer respectively (i.e the soil depth for layer 1 goes to 50 mm and the soil depth for layer 2 goes to 1400 mm, and so on). EFAS variable river discharge (dis) is stored as average over the time step of the model (6-hourly or 24-hourly), with time stamp (date and time of end of averaging period) explicit in the GRIB short name.

The reforecasts are initialised twice weekly with lead times up to 46 days, at 24-hour steps for 20 years in the recent history. For more specific information on the how the reforecast dataset is produced we refer to GloFAS forecast skill. This dataset was produced by forcing the LISFLOOD hydrological model at a 1×1 arcminute (for version 5.0 onwards) resolution with ensemble meteorological reforecasts from ECMWF. Reforecasts are forecasts run over past dates and are typically used to assess the skill of a forecast system or to develop tools for statistical error correction of the forecasts. The reforecasts are initialised twice weekly with lead times up to 46 days, at 6-hourly time steps for 20 years.
EFAS Matrix vs. SWOT Analysis
This dataset was produced by forcing the LISFLOOD hydrological model at a 0.1° (~11 km at the equator) resolution with downscaled runoff forecasts from the ECMWF 51-member ensemble seasonal forecasting system, SEAS5. The forecasts are initialised on the first of each month with a 24-hourly time step, and cover 123 or 215 days, depending on the date it was produced. This dataset provides a gridded modelled time series of river discharge, forced with medium- to sub-seasonal range meteorological reforecasts from GloFAS. This dataset was produced by forcing the LISFLOOD hydrological modelling chain with input from the ECMWF-ENS 11-member ensemble reforecasts. Reforecasts are forecasts run over past dates, and those presented here are used for providing a suitably long time period against which the skill of the 30-day real-time operational forecast can be assessed.

- This parameter is the total amount of water accumulated over a particular time period which depends on the data extracted. The units of runoff are depth in metres.
- Ebru Zeren, Senior Audiologist, Audiology Department, Mid and South Essex University Hospitals GroupI had an incredible opportunity to attend the 17th Congress of the European Federation of Audiology Societies (EFAS), held in the heart of Vienna, Austria.
- A list of Centres throughout Europe has been collected but consideration may be given to other International Fellowships.
- For the period of 1981 to 2016 the number of ensemble members is 25, whilst reforecasts produced for 2017 onwards use a 51-member ensemble.
- EFACS E/8 provides all you require to run a field service department within your business, or a field service business in its own right.
- This can help companies develop strategies that are aligned with their capabilities and the external environment, leading to more effective decision-making.
- Treatment options and techniques may vary with different countries and clinics.
Care should be taken when comparing model parameters with observations, because observations are often local to a particular point rather than averaged over a grid square area. Observations https://www.efas2023.org/forum/ are also often taken in different units, such as mm/day, rather than the accumulated metres produced here.Runoff is a measure of the availability of water in the soil, and can, for example, be used as an indicator of drought or flood. The Global Flood Awareness Systems (GloFAS) in contrast to EFAS, is the operational global flood forecasting and monitoring system, being operational since 2018.
One of the key advantages of the EFAS Matrix is its focus on external factors, which can provide valuable insights into the broader business environment. By analyzing these external factors, organizations can better understand the opportunities and threats that may impact their strategic decisions. This can help companies anticipate changes in the market and proactively respond to emerging trends. The EFAS Matrix, which stands for External Factor Analysis Summary, is a strategic management tool that helps organizations evaluate external opportunities and threats.

- EFAS and GloFAS help to protect citizens of Europe and the world, the environment, property and cultural heritage when major floods occur.
- Otherwise, the water drains away, either over the surface (surface runoff), or under the ground (sub-surface runoff) and the sum of these two is simply called ‘runoff’.
- Candidates will be asked to sign a disclaimer before proceeding to the examination that they agree that the Examination Board has the final say regarding pass or fail.
- The main difference to EFAS it the coarser spatial and temporal resolution due to the global setup.

To mitigate this limitation, organizations may need to supplement their SWOT Analysis with objective data and external perspectives. EFAS produces 6-hourly flood forecasts (since 2020) and monthly seasonal streamflow outlooks (since 2016). The system has been fully operational as part of the Copernicus Emergency Management Service since 2012. EFAS v4.8 integrates changes in its meteorological forcing with the use of the new version of the ECMWF-ENS ensemble forecasting system, introduced by IFS cycle 48r1. EFAS v5.1 introduces several minor changes to the system, including; Updates to EFAS Hydrological post-processing and increased offering of monitoring and forecast variables. The Examination Board shall include the Certification Committee and all members of EFAS Council when each examination is taking place and shall include co-opted examiners as required.

The purpose of this curriculum is to provide a basis for the certification of young trainee trauma and orthopaedic surgeons specialising in foot and ankle management and surgery. CTEV from adult conditions but, again, there is a continuum in to adult life and a basic understanding is invaluable to the adult foot and ankle surgeon treating their subsequent effects. Volumetric soil moisture and river discharge data are accompanied by Auxiliary Data for interpretation. Volumetric oil moisture and river discharge data are accompanied by Auxiliary Data for interpretation. It couples state-of-the art weather forecasts with a hydrological model and with its continental scale set-up provides downstream countries with information on upstream river conditions.
Discussions centred on electrode design, surgical techniques, and patient-reported outcomes, reflecting a growing emphasis on personalised medicine in implantable hearing technologies. The DEFINE study, presented in the opening session, provided compelling evidence that digital cognitive behavioural therapy can be as effective as traditional face-to-face approaches in managing tinnitus-related distress. Other sessions explored auditory training methods, broadband hearing aid amplification, and innovative tools like the Tinnometer to tailor tinnitus therapies to individual needs.Overall, EFAS 2025 was a remarkable professional and cultural experience. The event once again reinforced the importance of evidence-based practice, technological integration, and patient-centred care in shaping the future of hearing healthcare. The combination of cutting-edge audiological science, meaningful professional connections, and the magnificent setting of Vienna made this congress truly memorable. It covers Basic Science applied to the Ankle and Foot, Paediatric, Adult Orthopaedic and Traumatic Foot and Ankle Surgery.

GloFAS provides a similar product portfolio as EFAS containing a wide range of early flood forecasting information to support stakeholders with flood risk management duties in arranging preparatory measures before an event strikes. The main difference to EFAS it the coarser spatial and temporal resolution due to the global setup. However, it is an asset to the flood risk management of large trans-national river basins, not least because it is free of charge and open to everyone who registers as a user. As for EFAS, GloFAS provided even estimates and maps of the potential socio-economic impact of flooding events.
Foot and ankle surgery is the sub-specialty of orthopaedic surgery which deals with the treatment, diagnosis and prevention of disorders of the foot and ankle.
